Abandoning false speech, he abstains from false speech; he speaks truth, adheres to truth, is trustworthy and reliable, one who is no deceiver of the world. Abandoning malicious speech, he does not repeat elsewhere what he has heard here. Abandoning idle chatter, he speaks at the right time, speaks on what is good.
Spiritual enlightenment marks the culminating point of your practices: when one attains enlightenment, one feels the unity of soul with everything and all the mental and physical engagements are left aside.
If you know the term “freight class”, you would know that in the LTL world, all commodities are rated according to their freight classes (if you don’t know, please refer to my previous blog on NMFC freight class). The higher the freight class, the higher the rate would be.
However, like everything in this world, there are exceptions. To stay competitive in pricing, some carriers would be willing to classify your high-class commodities as lower class. This is called “class exception”, sometimes also referred to as “FAK” (Freight All Kinds).
For example, a carrier may offer a price agreement that says all your commodities of class 50 to 175 are to be charged as class 50. Note that class exception is independent of discount, and is applied before discount is applied. This of course would lower your shipping cost and save you a lot of money.
Class exception also minimizes your risk of mis-classification. Now, all of sudden, whether to classify something as 50 or 70 doesn’t matter to your freight cost any more—they would all be charged as class 50 anyway.
If freight class exception is so wonderful, why didn’t you hear it from LTL freight carriers?
First, class exception can lower freight charges dramatically. Your gain would be their loss. So generally carriers would rather not to discuss it unless pressed.
Second, if a LTL carrier has not known your operation very well, and has not had enough confidence in your quality of packing, he would rather offer you a higher discount than class exception, because class exception has a more profound pricing impact and therefore is riskier to the carrier.
Third, a lot of shippers simply don’t know there is such a thing as class exception. Of course, if you don’t press for it, a carrier would be happy to keep it to himself.
Class exception can also have a down side in damage claims. It lowers a carrier’s liability to you. Typically, the higher the class, the higher the liability a carrier bears to the shipper. If you pay for class 50 due to class exception (instead of an actual class 150, for example), you will be compensated as class 50 for damages. How much difference will that make?
For example, according to the rules tariff of one national LTL carrier, the maximum liability of the carrier is $2 per pound per distribution package for class 50, $11.87 per pound for class 85, and $24.2 for class 150. The liabilities then stay pretty much the same for freight classes higher than 150
In practice, some carriers would agree to use shipper’s purchasing cost to determine the liability, rather than using their rules tariff. This can protect you in cases of claims if you have class exceptions. Like class exception, carriers don’t dish out this privilege easily. You have to possess high bargaining power and negotiate hard.
If you are not big enough a shipper to negotiate class exceptions, one shortcut is to use third party logistics companies. Some of them have already earned the privileges of class exceptions and cost-based liabilities from carriers, and can pass them on to you. Not all logistics companies have these. Always ask, and then choose those who have. You would save a lot in freight shipping, if your freight class is higher than 50.
Change all thoughts to empowering ones. Ask not “Why me?” Ask, “What can I do to reach my goals?” Change any mindset of “I can’t” to a mindset of “I can.” Just as when you climbed the high diving board as a child, gave a first speech in college, got married, or decided to be a parent, you will find the strength to face any future challenges.
Change any overly independent thoughts such as “I’ll handle this alone” to “I have many sources of help, if I simply ask.” Shift any catastrophising thoughts such as “This is the worst thing that could happen to me” to “I’m sure I’ll survive this one.”
Everyone is assigned their own personal angel known as their guardian angel. Guardian angels belong to the lowest ranking choir of angels and act as a chaperone through life. Your guardian angel will help to steer you in the right direction but will not interfere with your life lessons. They can be called upon for reassurance and understanding, think of them as your best friend. Your guardian angel will communicate with you if asked. However, if your energy is too negative they will have trouble getting through. Guardian Angels will speak gently but clearly passing telepathic thoughts on a daily basis, it is up to the individual to be listening The more a person talks to their guardian angel the closer the ‘friendship’ becomes.

A major cause for such behaviour is a mindset, found both among Muslims and Hindus, that believes that tolerance is a sign of weakness. Convinced about the infallibility of their own faith, they are totally intolerant to the views of others. Bolstered by the exhortations of their religious and political leaders, they feel no compunctions in smashing all that stands in their way including the laws of the land.
Death perhaps is the only certainty in this world. Yet, the fear of death stalks most people. Literature – western and Indian – regards the fear of death as an intriguing and ubiquitous part of human life. We know we are mortals, yet we are afraid of the inevitable. We know we will die one day; yet we continue to behave as though we believe we are going to live forever.
In Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, Caesar is surprised to find that people are frightened of death, which is after all an end that comes when it will. A similar spirit pervades the renowned dialogue between the Yaksha and Yudhishthira in the Mahabharata.
If you look up in the sky during the day, you see the Sun. That becomes the most dominant in your experience. In the night, if you look up, the stars become very dominant in your experience, but both the Sun and the stars – in fact, the Sun happens to be a star, too – look like puny little things when compared to the immense vastness of the sky. Generally, though, the sky is never in your conscious perception.
So, true existence can be likened to the vastness of the sky. The Sun, the stars, you and me, are all just small happenings, very brief happenings, really

What sets successful people apart from the pack? Is it luck, money, good lucks, and/or talent?
No, it is one small simple fact — motivation.
People who are successful all share one trait — they are motivated.
Of course, motivation really isn’t simple at all. That is why there is multi-billion industry focused on self-help books, tapes, seminars, camps, and coaches.
There is just one problem with using these methods. When it comes to motivation one size does not fit all. One of the elements that makes human beings so endlessly fascinating is that we are all individuals. It is the primary reason our species has been so successful. It also means we each have different interests, goals, and motivation.
So before you can begin following any one of the thousands of motivational programs available you must first determine which motivational group you fall into.
After some thought, study, and research, I have come up with four basic motivational categories:
~ The Pessimist
~ The Competitor
~ The Minimalist
~ The Exhibitionist
The Pessimist
The Pessimist is personified by my husband. Whenever he gets the smallest bit of bad news he immediately leaps into the deep end of doom and gloom. It doesn’t matter if the problem is small or large, he often reacts as if it is the end of the world. If the satellite dish has a momentary hiccup in service then he immediately assumes the bill didn’t get paid and our account terminated and our credit score is now on the decline.
It took me a long time to learn how to deal with this. At first I thought it was real panic and I would try to shield him from the smaller hiccups, and even some big ones, of life. But now I know this is actually how he motivated himself.
When we face challenges, big or small, he works himself through a familiar cycle. First he outlines the worst-case scenario, then he outlines his options for action, and then he takes action. And when he takes action just get out of the way as he moves very quickly — and successfully. Challenge faced, problem solved. It makes me crazy but it works for him!
The Competitor
My brother thrives on competition. Whether he is playing sports or working in sales, he is always more successful if he has competition. If his motivation flags he can easily juice himself up with a quick comparison of his progress toward a particular goal in comparison to others. He likes to keep score and that keeps him motivated. He wants to win whatever competition is at hand
Don’t knock this method. By almost any measure my brother is a huge success and has worked his way from a contract employee barely able to afford his two-bedroom apartment to a high-level sales executive with a six-figure salary plus bonuses to further incentivize him.
The Minimalist
Perhaps this person might best be described as having a short-attention span. They need short-term goals that are immediately visible and can be achieved within a short time span. They can go the distance as long as it is broken up into smaller projects. Each small victory will spur them on to the final goal but they need those little successes to keep them motivated. In many ways this label applies to me but I think down deep that I am really in the final category.
The Exhibitionist
I know I fall into this category because I have a very difficult time with goals that I cannot see. It is one of the reasons I hate cleaning — sure you can see the results but with a busy family you know how long those results stay visible!
Like the minimalist I enjoy breaking large projects up into small, bite-sized chunks so they are not so overwhelming. When I grade papers for my teaching gig I always divide the pile into several smaller piles so I can feel I am making progress. I do the same with cleaning — first straighten the room, then dust, then vacuum.
But it isn’t enough for me to accomplish the task — I need to have a to do list that I can check off as I go and then crumple up and throwing the trash at the end of the day. I need to be able to point to some visible success for the day whether it is a shining kitchen, a stack of graded papers, or a pile of completed manuscript pages.
