There is no better prayer of thanksgiving than to offer our lives to God as a thanksgiving prayer for his goodness and love for us. God created us and holds us in being, in his love at every moment, ‘In God we live and move and have our being’ (Act 17:28). We have our very existence in God.

In this article I would like to discuss a special life offering prayer which is very beautiful and was given by Jesus and Mary to a holy Hungarian nun, Sr Elizabeth in the 1950’s who received many powerful yet challenging message from Jesus and His Blessed Mother, Mary about the state of the world and the persecutions of the Church.

These visions were later published under the title, ‘The Victorious Queen of the World’ and this book brings messages full of love to the world but also full of warnings about sin and its consequences for souls.

To give us a powerful anecdote to the poison of sin and to offer our lives to God in a prayer of thanksgiving Mary gave us the prayer of life offering. Attached to this prayer are five wonderful promises which Jesus has granted to the prayer.

This thanksgiving prayer is a generous donation of our lives back to God for his greater glory and in return the five promises are generous without measure, for God is never out done in generosity!

The promises relate to our afterlife when we have disembarked from the ship of time and arrived home.

Jesus and Mary wish to prepare us for Heaven, the place of eternity. We are at present living in a world of shadows where all is transient and passing and where no joy no matter how perfect is lasting. Deep down in our hearts we have been given a deep desire for eternal joy and to share in God’s own happiness.

Our hearts are made for God and we will always be restless until we rest in him.

The five promises attached to the prayer of thanksgiving, the offering of our lives to God are;

• The names of those who offer their lives through this prayer of thanksgiving will be written in the Sacred Hearts of our Lord and Mary, inflamed with love.
• The offering of our lives, our prayers and work united with Jesus can help save souls from hell. As God is outside time our life offering can help souls in all ages and at all times.
• Further, Jesus has promised through his holy mother that none of those who offer their lives family members will go to hell, they will receive the grace not to reject God. We can have no greater love than to pray for the salvation of a soul. Our life offering will be a great act of love for our families.
• For those who have family members being purified in purgatory these will be released and go to Heaven the day they make their offering!
• Mary assures the soul who has offered their life up that she will comfort them when they die, as she was there to comfort Jesus and lead them into their beatitude and bliss.

This is a great opportunity? Even if our faith is weak or our theology and understanding lacking we can still offer this thanksgiving prayer to God. God loves us when we are small and humble and ask his mother for help.

As Jesus totally and completely entrusted himself to Mary as a tiny and helpless babe and child so too we are called to imitate Jesus in his life and entrust ourselves to our spiritual mother who always leads us in the way of God and to God. Mary knows no other path and she is the gentlest and most faithful of mothers.

Jesus looks on our entrusting ourselves to his mother with great pleasure as he has made her the Seat of Wisdom, the spouse of the Holy Spirit and he loves Mary to be given the honour she is owed as His Mother and the Queen of Heaven. You have nothing to lose and so much spiritual wealth to gain!
