Self Motivation is Positive
If you think about the self-help trend that has been sweeping the nation for the last few decades, you may be wondering why it has not been as successful as people hoped it would be. You may not understand how countless numbers of people could spend quite a bit of money and years of their time, yet not seem to gain any true lasting results. You may be disillusioned with the entire subject, and think that it could not be worth the bother. This is especially true if you or someone you know have already been in the position of trying and gaining nothing from the self-help spectrum or a lack of self motivation.
There is a very important reason why few gained lasting results. Fortunately, when you know this reason you will be inclined to take a different route, and can achieve the results you want.
The reason why so much of the self-help trend was a failure is that much of it focused on the negative. Not only did it urge people to constantly rehash everything negative about their pasts, their lives, their personalities, and their relationships, at its worst it led people to doubt themselves and caused more problems than they had in the first place. Obviously, this approach was doomed to failure.
On the other hand, true Self Motivation is positive. While it does not encourage a person to take a light view of his or her mistakes and problems, it places the focus on moving beyond them. As so much of the self-help culture emphasized the negative aspects, urging people to constantly write about, think about, and talk about those problems, it kept people living in the past. It was not Self Motivation at all.
Self Motivation includes the self-development to move forward. Instead of constantly mulling over your weaknesses, it helps you to gain a new found strength. You know where you are in your life, and how you got there; you know who you are as a person and how you came to be this unique individual; and Self Motivation will provide you with the tools to both appreciate your present day and have a future that is worth looking forward to.
Self Motivation is very positive. Not only will you know that you are in the process of being the best that you can be, you will also know that you are the best as you are. You can leave all of the negativity in the past, and begin to move forward.
The greatest part of being self motivated is that it has a positive spiral effect throughout your whole life. Lets say you start with a small step of meditating 3 minutes every night before you go to bed.
The actual task will only take three minutes of your day but the overall benefit can be huge. By achieving your meditation each night you will feel better about yourself. Feeling better will raise you self confidence. Once you raise your confidence you will be more willing to work on a new task.
When you achieve the second task you will be even more inclined to try a third, fourth and fifth task. The key is to start with small tasks that are easy to accomplish then work you way up to larger more difficult tasks.
So by starting with a simple three minute task you have now created a basic frame work to increase your overall happiness and productivity. Remember you will have downturns and bad days. Don’t give up, just move on. You are on your way to becoming a success and are worth the extra effort needed to become happy and fulfilled.
